What is a Doula
(And Why You Might Want One)?

What We Actually Do
Bringing a new baby into the world is one of the most personal, powerful, and life-changing experiences you'll ever have. It can also come with a lot of unknows, big emotions, and decision after decision. That's where a doula comes in. A doula is a trained support person who offers continuous emotional, physical, and informational care during pregnancy, labor, and the early postpartum period. We're not medical providers; we don't deliver babies, diagnose, or make decisions for you. Instead, we're here for you, your needs, your voice, your experience. We walk alongside you through it all, holding space when things feel overwhelming, encouraging your choices, offering practical support, and making sure you never feel like "just another patient."

During Pregnancy, we help you prepare, not just with a birth plan, but with real conversations about your hopes, your fears, your options, and your preferences. We're someone to talk to when the internet gets overwhelming, or when you just want to feel heard.
-
During Labor, we're there from start to finish (yes, really). We stay with you throughout the entire process, offering physical comfort (like counter-pressure, position suggestions, and calming touch), emotional reassurance, and gentle reminders that you can do this. We adapt to your needs in the moment, whether you want silence and grounding presence, or encouragement and guidance.

Do You Need A Doula?
Studies have shown that having a doula can lead to shorter labors, fewer interventions, and a lower likelihood of cesarean birth. But beyond the stats, what we hear most often is:
"I couldn't have done it without you."
"You helped me feel so much more confident."
"You reminded me that I could trust myself."
Birth isn't just about getting through it, it's about feeling supported, respected, and empowered the entire way through.
You deserve to feel grounded and supported in one of the most vulnerable and transformative moments of your life. If you're looking for someone who will listen without judgement, offer real guidance, and be by your side from beginning to end, a doula might be exactly what you need. Whether you're planning a home birth, medicated or unmedicated, VBAC or cesarean, our role is to support you through your unique journey. You don't have to do this alone, and you don't have to figure it all out by yourself.
We're her, and we'd be honored to be a part of your team.

In the Postpartum Period, we offer support as you begin your new chapter. That might mean talking through your birth experience, helping with newborn care questions, or just being there to remind you that you're doing an amazing job.
How We Fit Into Your Birth Team
Your doctor, your midwife, or nurse is there to focus on your clinical care and your baby's health. Your partner or loved one is there to support you emotionally, but they may not always know what to do, especially if this is new for them, too.
A doula is the bridge between those roles. We bring a calming presence, a toolkit of comfort measures, and years of experience supporting birthing people through a wide range of births; from unmedicated to epidural to planned cesarean. We work alongside your providers and your partner, enhancing their support rather than replacing it. Everyone deserves a solid team, and a doula helps make sure that you are at the center of it.

People often ask, "So... what do doulas actually do?" The answer: quite a lot; but in a quiet, steady, supportive way.
